A tremendous canine of awesome endurance and scenting ability, the Bloodhound derives from the ancient St. Hubert Hound of Belgium, the very dog favored by the namesake saint himself. The Bloodhound is the largest and most effective scenthound in the hound group. He stands 23-27 inches high at the shoulder and can weigh as much as 110 pounds. The dog’s nose is second to none and he is known as a cold trailer, a dog that is able to track a scent after it is a few days old. Speed is not necessary with a nose as good as the Bloodhound’s. They have historically been used to track criminals and lost children and runaway parents. These are truly noble, sincere dogs deserving of quality homes, homes with a lot of property, food, and love.
