The Harrier, another scenthound, is an affectionate tricolored dog with little following today. It is truly one of the most rare recognized breeds, with only a few litters registered annually. It is an inch or two smaller than the American Foxhound and English Foxhound. All three of these foxhounds resemble the ever-popular Beagle. The Beagle, being a smaller dog, obviously precludes these breeds’ popularity as a pet animal and is less used for sporting purposes these days than its larger cousins.
